Going to study abroad for a period of time is a challenging time for young people, as they are facing an unfamiliar environment, a new language and culture to name but a few things. In addition, it can be more even more difficult for students with disabilities who may face inaccessible environments or disability-related stereotypes.

As recognition of such challenges, ESN developed the ExchangeAbility project to make our organisation accessible for students with disabilities, to help remove obstacles to participation in exchange and promote the opportunities available.

Would you like to spend your spare time with a rewarding volunteer experience? Would you like to share your knowledge with children? Do you have a good English level and you feel like carrying out a social activity?

This is the time. The Asociación de Padres de Niños Sordos (Parents Association for Deaf Children) and ESN Vigo, through the ESN International project ExchangeAbility (EA) and the non-profit community t-oigo.com, invite you to take part in the ALLIES IN ENGLISH programme.

The t-oigo.com community is already developing this cultural exchange programme in other Spanish cities, bringing people who, like you, come in an exchange for a 3 to 4 months period, together with children who suffer from  hearing loss.

Each volunteer student will be allocated a family with a child, with whom the volunteer will carry out activities during 1 or 2 hours per week in order to help the children with their English.

In order to participate, all you need to do is fill this form. We will put you both in touch.

It’s a mutual learning: you will have the opportunity to share this experience with the whole community, showing that everyone can learn English in a positive and familiar atmosphere. There are no obstacles!
