Blood Donation

Your blood could be the key to save the life of someone who needs it.

If you want to make a difference, contribute to the blood donation campaign organised by ESN Vigo in collaboration with the Hospital Nicolás Peña, on Wednesday, 5th April at 4 p.m. We will meet up in Plaza América, at the entry of the Centro Comercial Camelias, at 3:45 p.m. so we can go all together by foot to the hospital. It is important to bring your ID card or passport. Keep in mind that your blood can be very valuable for other people.

Please, remember that not everybody can donate. Those who want to do it MUST meet the following requirements:

• Being a healthy person, from 18 to 65 years old and weighing more than 50 kg.
• Do not donate on an empty stomach or 2 hours after a heavy meal.
• Do not engage in physical activity within the following 12 hours.

DONATING IS DISALLOWED:

• If you have had a piercing, a tattoo, acupuncture, an endoscopy, a catheterisation or a skin or mucosae perforation done in the last 4 months.
• If you have undergone surgery, received a blood transfusion or been in contact with blood in the last 4 months.
• If you have anemia or uncontrolled hypertension.
• If you have been pregnant, had a miscarriage or aborted in the last 6 months.
• If you have had a fever or flu in the last 2 weeks.
• If you have gone to the dentist in the last 7 days. 
• If you are taking medication, or if you have had allergy to any medicine in the last year. Please report it to the doctor.
• If you have been vaccinated recently.
• If you suffer (or have suffered in the past) from any kind of serious or chronic illness (heart diseases, kidney diseases, cancer, insulin-dependent diabetes, severe asthma, epilepsy…)
• If you have ever used intravenous drugs.
